5 Healthy Donut Recipes

We all love to eat donuts. Unfortunately, the donuts sitting in convenience stores are usually packed with sugar, artificial coloring, preservatives, and other additives that aren’t doing anyone any favors. Whether you’re trying to lose weight, or just like healthy foods, there’s a donut recipe in here for you! Skip the Krispy Kreme and store-bought junk–here are 5 creative and delicious ways to do it better at home.

1. Strawberry shortcake doughnuts

Free of dairy. Free of gluten. Free of grains. Free of nuts. Free of processed sugar. Free of wheat. But definitely not free of flavor and absolute deliciousness!

– 3 egg whites
– 2 tbsp. coconut flour
– 1 tsp. chia seeds
– ½ cup baking stevia
– 1 tsp. vanilla
– 1½ tsp. baking powder
– ⅛ tsp. sea salt
– 10 sliced and diced strawberries

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 F. Whip the egg whites until peak begins to form, slowly add baking stevia while whipping egg whites. Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl, and slowly fold into whipped egg whites. Fold in diced strawberries as well. Spray doughnut molds and spoon batter into molds. Bake in the oven until done, about 15 minutes. Enjoy!

2. Easy baked doughnuts

These donuts are healthy, easy, so delicious, but without all the fat and sugar.

Ingredients:

Dry

– 2 cups whole wheat flour
– 1/3 cup agave nectar
– 2 tsp. baking powder
– Dash of cinnamon
– Pinch of salt

Wet

– 1 tsp. vanilla extract
– 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
– ¾ cup soy milk
– ¼ cup applesauce
– ¼ cup coconut oil

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 F. In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat combine the wet ingredients and mix until it starts steaming (about 3 min). Add the dry mixture to the wet and mix until smooth. Scoop the mixture into a nonstick doughnut pan and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and enjoy!

3. Healthy crispy donuts

These donuts are gluten free, grain free, low carb, low fat, high protein, only about 110 calories, and super easy to make.

Ingredients:

– 2 tbsp. coconut flour
– 1/2 tsp. baking powder
– Pinch salt
– Pinch cinnamon
– 1 egg
– 1/4 cup mashed banana
– Stevia, to taste

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350 F. Mix all the ingredients together. Spoon into you greased the donut pan. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes, or until a tooth pick comes out clean. Remove from oven and enjoy.

4. Chocolate cake donuts

These healthy donuts are gluten/grain-free! Sugar-free! Dairy-free! Low-carb! And so easy to make!

Ingredients:

Dry

– 1/4 cup coconut flour
– 1/4 cup cocoa powder
– 1 tsp. baking powder
– 2 tbsp. powdered sweetener (sugar-free)

Wet

– 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
– 3 large eggs
– 1/4 cup canned coconut milk
– 1/4 cup water
– 2 tsp. vanilla extract

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 F. With coconut oil, grease donut pan. In small mixing bowl stir dry ingredients. In a medium mixing bowl, mix wet ingredients. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until well combined. Add melted coconut oil and mix again. Divide batter evenly into each donut hole. Bake 20 minutes. Enjoy!

5. Pumpkin doughnuts

This is another one of those things that are so delicious, you’ll want to eat them at every meal, but because they are so healthy, you can.

Ingredients:

– 5 eggs
– 1/2 cup coconut milk
– 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
– 1/3 cup melted coconut oil
– 1 cup almond flour
– 1/2 cup coconut flour
– 1 tsp. liquid stevia
– 2 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
– 1/4 tsp. salt

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350 F and oil your donut pan. Place first 4 ingredients in a blender and mix until well combined. Add the dry ingredients and blend on low speed until well mixed. Pour the mixture into the pan, filling each mold 2/3 full. Bake for 15-20 min. and let cool for about 10 minutes before removing from the pan. Enjoy your donuts!
