5 Healthy Picnic Dishes Youll Want To Try

For most of us, summer is the perfect time for summertime picnics, pool parties, beach parties and dinner parties. The good news is that you can enjoy summer’s picnics without gaining weight.

But traditional BBQ foods like processed red meat, bacon hams and sausages are bad for your health. But, we’ve got five healthy recipes that are perfect for your picnic!

1. Bean curry burger

This healthy and delicious burger is a great alternative to traditional burgers, and they taste like the real thing.

Ingredients:

– 1/2 tbsp. olive oil
– 1 clove garlic, minced
– 1/4 cup onion, diced
– 1 can beans, drained and rinsed
– 1 egg
– 1 tsp. curry powder
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– 2 buns, whole wheat

Instructions:

Sauté garlic and onion on a medium high heat, cook for 3-4 min. Place the beans in another bowl and mash well. Add the rest of the ingredients, except buns. Form the mixture into patties, and cook in a non-stick pan, for 10- 15 minutes. Top with your favorite toppings. Enjoy!

2. Tasty grilled sweet potatoes

These tasty sweet potatoes are so delicious, and they make the perfect side dish for any meal!

Ingredients:

– 1tsp. olive oil
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– 2 pounds potatoes, quartered
– Olive oil
– 1 clove garlic, minced
– 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions:

Combine all your ingredients. Preheat your grill and place sweet potatoes. Cook for 4 min. each side. Remove your sweet potatoes in a bowl ad serve while still warm. Bon appetit!

3. Strawberry lemonade

This fresh lemon juice strawberry lemonade is just perfect for your next picnic.

Ingredients:

– 2 cups water
– Stevia, to taste
– 1 cup of lemon juice
– 2 cups ice
– 2 cups strawberries

Instructions:

Add all of the ingredients to a blender, and mix for 2-3 min. Place it in the refrigerator for 2 hours to cool. Done!

4. Cauliflower frittata

When going for a refreshing summer picnic, take along this delicious and nutritious frittata.

Ingredients:

– 1 garlic clove, thinly sliced
– 1 onion, sliced
– 1 tbsp. olive oil
– 2 cups cauliflower florets
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– 4 eggs
– 1/3 cup feta cheese, diced

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°. In a medium nonstick skillet, heat the olive oil. Add the onion and garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the cauliflower, salt, and pepper, and cook for 5 min, until the cauliflower is crisp-tender. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and add the cauliflower. Place the skillet back to heat and add the eggs. Cook for 5 minutes. When done, add the cheese. Bake for 5 minutes each side. Bon appetit!

5. Delicious mango salad

The mangoes are so delicious and packed with nutrients. Perfect for your next picnic!

Ingredients:

– 1 mango, peeled, cut
– 1 onion, sliced
– 1 tsp. fresh parsley, chopped
– Chili powder, to taste
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– 1, tsp. fresh lime juice, fresh

Instructions:

In a medium bowl, add all the ingredients and mix well to combine. Add salt, pepper and chili powder, to taste. Serve and enjoy your tasty salad.
