Freezing is a quick easy method of preserving foods in the home. Unlike many of the processed foods, frozen food does not require preservatives. However, store-bought frozen meals are often loaded with sugars, fat, and sodium. Homemade frozen (low-carb) meals are healthy and can be a good option when you’re trying to lose weight. Here are our six easy low-carb frozen food recipes:
1. Low-carb meatballs
These low-carb meatballs are a healthier alternative to traditional meatballs. They are so delicious that no one will know they’re healthy!
Ingredients:
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tbsp. fresh parsley, chopped
1 lb ground turkey, diced
2 tsp. olive oil
2 cups fresh tomato salsa
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 400 F.
In a large bowl, add the onion, garlic, parsley, and turkey- mix it all together using your hands. Form the mixture into 15 meatballs. In a skillet, heat the olive oil. Add the meatballs and cook for 5 minutes. Add the salsa and cook for 25 minutes more. Set aside and let cool. Enjoy.
2. Low-carb frozen yogurt
Cherries are the source of iron, carotene, vitamin A, B, C & E. This recipe is full of flavor but low in calories and carbs.
Ingredients:
1 cup yogurt
1/2 cup frozen cherries
2 tsp. stevia
1/3 cup almond milk
Instructions:
Simply, mix all the ingredients together. Serve cold.
3. Low-carb bean soup
This bean soup recipe is warm and delicious! This soup freezes great and reheats without a problem.
Ingredients:
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 onion, diced
6 cups vegetable broth
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups beans, soaked overnight
300 g beef, diced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 chili pepper
Instructions:
In a large pot over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil. Add the onion and garlic-sautéfor a few minutes. Add all the ingredients and cook for 1 hour and 20 min. Serve warm.
4. Low–carb turkey salsa chili
There is nothing better on a cold day than a hot chili to warm you up from the inside out.
Ingredients:
1 lb. chicken breast
3 cups beans, soaked overnight
3 cups tomato salsa
1 tomato, diced
2 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. paprika
Instructions:
In a slow cooker, add all the ingredients and cook for 3 hours. Done!
5. Vegan sausage casserole
Classic casseroles got a healthy makeover— without losing any of the taste.
Ingredients:
4 vegan sausages, sliced
1 cup tofu, diced
2 cups fresh tomato salsa
1 pound frozen veggies
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375 F. In your casserole dish, add all the ingredients and bake for 30 minutes. Done!
6. Low- carb cucumber sauce
This cucumber sauce recipe is an easy way to incorporate more vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants into your diet.
Ingredients:
1 tsp. olive oil
1 cup yogurt
1 cucumber, peeled, diced
1/3 tsp. garlic powder
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/3tsp. ground coriander
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, yogurt, cucumber, garlic powder, lemon juice, coriander and mix gently until well combined. Serve cold. Done!
