It is important to eat cereals which contain nutrition, but some brans may be boring. However, by adding some different toppings on the cereal, you can add some more nutrients and improve the taste as well.
In order to maintain the same caloric intake, make sure to decrease the portion of the cereal when you add a topping.
1. Bananas
Bananas can improve the taste of almost every cereal. You can cut them into small pieces or in half and eat it with the cereal. Add half a banana to each portion if you eat more than one bowl of cereal at a time. Also, make sure not to let the cereal sit too long before you eat it since the bananas can become soggy.
2. Blueberries
By adding blueberries to your cereal you will get some flavor and also another healthy serving of fruit. When you add blueberries you may want to stir the cereal in order to have some with each bite. In case the brand of cereal doesn’t taste good with blueberries as a topping, you can eat the cereal first and later treat yourself to a bowl if blueberries on the side.
3. Strawberries
One of the common topping to try when you eat cereal are fresh strawberries. If you have picked the strawberries yourself at a local grocery store, make sure to rinse them in water. Also, remember to cut the tops off the strawberries before you add them to the cereal. You can also cut them in half or dice them if the strawberries are too big, so each bite of cereal which you eat contains a piece of strawberry.
4. Raspberries
Add a topping of raspberries and make any kind of cereals more delicious. In case you buy berries which are in a plastic container from the grocery store, make sure to wash them well in order to remove any surface material. You can also cut the raspberries in half, which will make them easier to consume. In order to find a combination you like, you can also mix them with other cereal toppings.
5. Raisins
Although some cereals already include raisins, they usually won’t taste as good as raisins you add from a different box. You have two options: you can choose the raisins out from the cereal box and discard them, or you can just add an additional portion from the package of raisins. If you don’t remove the existing raisins from the cereal box, keep in mind that you will allow the increase in calories.
6. Nuts
A healthy way to improve the taste of your cereal is adding nuts, such as almonds. However, don’t buy nuts which contain salt, since that can make the brand of cereal you eat taste worse. Also, make sure to chop up the nuts before you add them to your bowl of cereal. You may have trouble swallowing if you don’t chew each bite thoroughly. Make sure to experiment with different types of nuts, until you find the one which makes your cereal taste better.
