Atkins Diet – A Critical Review
Due to the reduced intake of carbohydrates ( Dr. Atkins recommends that everyone limits intake to a maximum of 60 grams per day ), this diet caused a lot of controversies.
Some studies have shown that long-term implementation would have an impact on mental health and cause despondency, fatigue, and lethargy. In particular, such symptoms were seen in women whose mood swings were intense.
Also, the risks are increased due to the number of triglycerides in the blood and increased number of saturated fatty acids. In addition, the first ( introductory ) phase of the Atkins diet can cause problems in people who otherwise consume large amounts of carbohydrates, or in people who suffer from hypoglycemia because their body can not so quick produce glucose to meet the needs of the brain and muscles, resulting in sudden fatigue or lightheadedness.
On the other hand, another study showed that the Atkins diet was the most effective for weight loss as compared to the three controlled diet regimes.

This diet consists in the fact of switching off the intake of carbohydrates in the body to help the body cleanse itself of fat deposits. With this diet you will not be hungry, you must eat three times a day, you do not need to measure the food and prepare meals separately, you do not need to drink teas or use pills to suppress increased appetite, you do not have to run or go for acupuncture.
How it works
With the complete disconnection of the introduction of carbohydrates, our fat deposits begin to melt. On the first 6 days you can lose up to 5 kg, every next day you will get lighter up to 1 kg. For 24 days you can lose up to 20 kg.
But attention! If you eat only one slice of bread or any tidbits that contain carbohydrates just for one day, the body will block fat loss.
Do not eat foods that contain carbohydrates!
This diet can last as many days as you want to lose weight. When you reach your desired weight, the body will not gain weight for some time, even a year or two.
Attention: This diet is not for everyone! Due to the abundance of proteins, people with health problems should consult a physician before starting the diet.

To make up for the deficit of vitamin that would occur due to the consuming food from above, take vitamins C, E, A, B, calcium, and magnesium.
The food you can eat
All kinds of meat: beef, chicken, veal, pork, lamb, goose, duck, turkey, all kinds of offal, game in every way – except – fried boiled, baked, barbecue; no bread, cured meats, sausages ( except hot dogs ) all types of meats.
All kinds of fish: Saltwater fish, freshwater fish, all kinds of canned fish.
All kinds of lettuce: fresh green, peppers – fresh or grilled, tomatoes, cucumbers – fresh or pickled greens, salad, seafood salad, onion, fresh spinach. All salads seasoned with oil, vinegar, salt, pepper … pickle – if desired.
Eggs: you can eat eggs in all ways.
Vegetables: cauliflower, chard, spinach, leeks, celery, onions, cabbage, artichokes, eggplant, carrots, parsley, celery, radishes, mushrooms.
Milk and milk products: Provided that the number of carbohydrates intake does not exceed 15 grams per day.
You can drink mineral water, lemonade, black coffee, all kinds of tea without sugar, half a liter of white wine or 1 liter of spritzer but after 6 days of dieting. Instead of sugar, use artificial sweeteners.
