Lavender Oil

Health Benefits Of Lavender Oil

The health benefits of lavender oil include its ability to relieve pain, enhance blood circulation, eliminate nervous tension, treat respiratory problems and disinfect the scalp and skin.

Lavar is the Latin name of lavender, which means ‘to wash,’ due to its particularly clean aroma. Lavender oil is usually extracted from the flowers of the lavender plant, typically through steam distillation.

The Lavender plant has fragrant flowers in nature and the flowers have been used for making potpourri for many centuries. Lavender oil has also been used in making perfumes. Many aromatic combinations and preparations are made using this oil since lavender oil is very useful in aromatherapy.

Lavender oil blends well with many other oils, such as nutmeg, geranium, clary sage, pine, and cedarwood. Today, this oil is often used in many forms, such as soaps, lotion, infusion, gels and aromatherapy oil. It also has many health benefits and in this article, we will pay attention to them.

Aching muscles

It is recommended that you jump into a lavender bath to soothe aches and pains away if you have spent a back-breaking afternoon in your garden. Add a few drops of lavender oil and Epsom salts to the bath and soak away the tension.

Cuts and wounds

Apply lavender oil to sooth pain in order to prevent bacterial infection and aid healing which is scar-free.

Acne

One of the most valuable oils for treating acne is lavender oil. Lavender oil inhibits the bacteria which cause the infection of your skin, helps to rebalance the over-secretion of sebum and reduces scarring. Use lavender oil as a moisturizer or cleanser and add several drops of it to a plain cream sold by chemists.

Minor burns

After you cooled the burned area by immersing it in running cold water for about five minutes, gently stroke on neat lavender oil. Burn often heals without scarring and pain relief is almost immediate.

Earache

Take a bottle of lavender oil and warm it in hot water for about 1 to 2 minutes. Then, slowly and gently massage several drops into the skin around the throat and ears. For small children and babies, add 2 to 3 drops of the warmed lavender oil to a little olive oil and massage in the same way.

Shingles

Combine together a mix of lavender oil with antiviral, analgesic and scar preventing oils neat or on compresses on the agonizing lesions of shingles. Normally it produces a cure within 5 to 8 days.

Fevers

Sponge small children and babies down very slowly and gently with tepid water to which you already added a drop of lavender oil. Make sure not to let them get chilled. This also works for adults.

Menstrual cramps

Massage several drops of lavender oil into your lower abdomen or just apply a hot compress onto the area where lavender oil has been sprinkled.

Sunburn

Add 8 drops of lavender oil and 4 drops of peppermint oil to a teaspoon of jojoba oil. Now, pour it into a cool-to-lukewarm bath and soak for about 10 minutes.
