One of the best ways to lose weight and stay fit is to keep your liver and digestive system healthy by eliminating toxins from the body.
Poor digestion slows weight loss by stopping your body to get necessary nutrients in order to burn fat.
This builds up toxins in the bloodstream which slows down your metabolism. This is where lemon juice and peel comes to save the day. By adding these ingredients to your diet, you will improve your digestive system and encourage your liver to work as best as it can.
The Lemon Diet Plan
You start your diet with a mini-detox which lasts for 24 hours. This includes drinking about three to four glasses of homemade lemonade and a lot of water with lemon peel. The lemonade is made from lemon juice, cinnamon or maple syrup, a pinch of cayenne pepper, which adds flavor and speeds up toxins elimination, and water. Also, you can eat organic yogurt, fruit, unsalted seeds and nuts, fish, pulses, and vegetables.
After you’re done with 24-hour detox, you should follow a seven-day diet plan.
First day – Drink a glass of lemon juice first thing every morning and additional six to eight glasses of water throughout the day in order to stimulate the digestive system.
Second day – In order to boost intake of vitamin C, eat five portions of vegetables and fruit per day. Vitamin C is one of the most important nutrients for weight loss and fat metabolism.
Third day – Balance your blood sugar levels by sprinkling 2 teaspoons of lemon juice over your meals or use juice and peel in cooking. This can help to prevent insulin swings. Also, eat regularly, eat the right carbs (especially those which are rich in fiber), and include protein-rich foods with each meal.
Fourth day – Avoid sugary and processed foods in order to cut down on sugar.
Fifth day – It is recommended that only 20 to 25 percent of calories should come from fat, and fat should come from heart-friendly unsaturated like oil-rich fish, nuts, and seeds. Foods containing trans fats and saturates are out.
Sixth day – Eat a lot of fresh whole foods like whole grains, pulses, fruit, and vegetables, although it’s good to skip whole grain carb during the night to help prevent bloating and reduce calories.
Seventh day – Follow lifestyle habits which are good, such as sitting down to eat, chewing properly, avoiding eating when tired, reducing stress, waiting 20 minutes before eating more, and switching off the TV during meals.
After you’re done with 24-hour detox and 7-day plan, you should continue to eat like this. Finally, coffee, booze, fizzy drinks, chocolate, processed foods, and sugar are off limits. Also, red meat is limited and it’s recommended that you eat more raw foods and buy organic when possible.
